Depending on what you consider an island, Greece has between a thousand and six thousand islands, of which over two hundred are large enough to be inhabited. Some of those are major tourist attractions.
Crete is the largest Greek island, with a population of over 600.000 people. Heraklion is its capital and largest city. Attractions on Crete include the Samaria Gorge, the ancient Knossos, the Aquaworld aquarium, Balos lagoon.

Corfu is one of the most popular and most luxurious islands of Greece, with picturesque beaches like Paleokastritsa and Glyfada.
Lesbos and Rhodes (Rodos) are mythical islands where you can see several ancient monuments dating from the Greek and Roman antiquity, including aqueducts, theremes, acropolis.
Very popular among tourists is Zakynthos, with its see through waters in the Shipwreck Bay in the Ionian see.
